True inherited excessive lower jaw growth usually requires surgical correction after aligning the teeth with orthodontics. In cases of excessive lower jaw growth, not inherited, if they are treated early (7-10 years old) with a combined orthodontic-orthopedic treatment the growth of the jaws can be harmonized and the surgical correction prevented in some mild to moderate cases. |
